Medical marijuana is legal in Montana – under
state and local law – but patients, caregivers and
their relatives must nonetheless understand and defend
their rights.
Patients & Families United
strongly recommends that Montana patients and caregivers
– whether formally registered with the state health
department or not – follow the recommendations listed
below. These suggestions come from Montana patients
and past defendants, as well as from leaders in the medical
marijuana “movement” in other states, including
California, where medical marijuana has been legal since
1995.

Patients & Families United
believes it is very important for Montana patients and
caregivers – if ever faced with the need to defend
themselves either in state or federal court – to
adopt and fight for interpretations of the law that
maximize the protection both of themselves as well as of
future potential defendants. [More about what this
means…]
